Commercial Machinery

This section introduces machinery that you may see being used by a co-packer, with pictures and text on the basics of how this type of equipment works.  The items discussed here are more commonly found at small-medium co-packers.  Large, automated lines will exist at the largest co-packers.  These automated lines are often highly specialized equipment and are customized for a particular food product.

You should also be prepared to purchase your own dies, attachments and even machinery as it is not easy to find a manufacturer that has all of the equipment that exactly fits your specific product’s needs.  For example, if you are producing a certain size and shape cracker, the machine that will extrude that cracker might need a custom die to be able to press out and cut that particular shape and  size.  Your co-packer will advise you on this matter of what you may need to source and provide.
